Position Summary: Responsible for filling in for staff vacancies and providing the training for all staff on the CLASS and DBMD programs, as assigned.

 

 Tasks:

 ·         In response to office staff vacancies, travel to the applicable office to perform the job duties of a Program Director.

o   Manages the day-to-day activities of the assigned program.

o   Monitors the services provided for assigned client case load.

o   Utilizes program resources efficiently and effectively.

o   Assures that all program and licensure standards are met.

o   Maintains positive relationships and open communication with clients, client families, case managers, vendors, and other concerned parties.

o   Attends and participates in all agency facilitated manager training sessions and other training approved by the Agency.

o   Addresses Attendant disciplinary actions when necessary.

o   Provides supervision and competency assessments to Attendant staff.

o   Completes required documentation accurately and timely and assures integration into the client’s record within the agency’s defined timeframe.

o   Reviews and corrects any outstanding issues in reference to the Quality Improvement Program in a timely manner.

o   Will perform client care and on-call duties as assigned or as needed.

·         Conduct review of each office’s progress in KanTime utilization

o    Observe team’s methods of processing records; provide feedback and conduct follow-up training to increase efficiency and accuracy;

o    Ensure that document indexing continues at a pace sufficient to avoid backlog.

·           Conduct surveys with office staff to determine training needs

o    Based on responses, provide individual and/or group training to improve the efficiency, accuracy and cost-effectiveness of staff’s method and processes;

o    Troubleshoot any barriers to use of current office technology;

o    In conjunction with ongoing observations of workloads, use responses to identify trends needing training intervention such as: re-prioritization of workload so that most important tasks/functions are given the greatest amount of time/attention; develop automation tools to reduce the amount of time dedicated toward lower priority tasks; develop monitoring/tracking tools to help employees conduct higher priority functions with greater confidence and accuracy; provide training as necessary to re-align employee’s actions and attitudes to match company’s mission and philosophy.

·           Observe, analyze, and make recommendations for improvements to the service attendant orientation process and methods.

o    Develop new methods and materials for service attendant orientation, in collaboration with Corporate Human Resources, to increase the service attendant’s readiness for assignment and improve the service attendant’s representation of the company in the client’s home.

·           In response to complaints/incidents/injuries, provide training or re-training to service attendants, contractors, and/or office staff.

o    For complaints, coordinate with applicable staff to incorporate staff training into an agreeable complaint resolution;

o    For incidents, coordinate with the applicable staff and Human Resources to incorporate staff training into a plan of correction/plan for prevention of additional incidents.

·           Attend office staff in-services or meetings, as needed, in order to provide short, interactive, topic-based training on a weekly, bi-weekly, or quarterly basis.

·      Monitor for policy changes from HHS and MCO’s to the CLASS and DBMD programs

·      Provide CLASS and DBMD training and communications to office staff following HHSC’s webinars, policy changes, form revisions, and any major change in standards, etc.

·      Coordinate with staff supervisors in response to an employee needing re-training.

·      Maintain documentation of trained employees’ progress towards goals

·      Provide the employees’ supervisors with the documentation of training and any needed recommendations.

·      Observes confidentiality policies at all times.

·      Complies with federal, state, & company policies, procedures and regulations

·      Performs other related duties as assigned.

·         Written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate effectively as appropriate to the needs of the audience.

·         Must be able to read, write and comprehend English; must be able to communicate effectively in English.

 

Experience and Education:

 

·           A bachelor’s degree in a health and human services field or social work and two years’ work experience in the delivery of services and supports to persons with related conditions or similar disabilities, or one of the following:

o   An associate’s degree in a health and human services related field and a minimum of four years’ work experience in the delivery of services and supports to persons with related conditions or similar disabilities; or

o   A high school diploma or certificate recognized by a state as the equivalent of a high school diploma and six years’ work experience in the delivery of services and supports to persons with related conditions or similar disabilities; and either:

o   Is fluent in the communication methods used by an individual to whom the case manager is assigned (for example American sign language, tactile symbols, communication boards, pictures, and gestures); or

o   Within six months after being assigned to an individual, becomes fluent in the communication methods used by the individual.

·           Completion of agency’s DBMD training and HHSC Computer Based training.

·           Case Management experience preferred, not required.

·           Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a management or supervisory role required.

·           Must not be convicted of a crime, offense or misdemeanor as defined in TAC §97.241(b) relating to Management and not barred from employment by state law, including Nurse Aide Registry and Employee Misconduct Registry.

·           Two to three of experience in direct training.

·            Experience in the following areas/competencies is advantageous:

o   Training and Development

o   HMO, managed healthcare or insurance professional

o   Curriculum development specialist

·           Must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

·           High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Acrobat, Content Creator, and SharePoint preferred.

·          Skilled at conducting internet research.

·          Must be able to type 35 wpm with 80% accuracy and 80% accuracy in Excel.

·          Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license and auto liability insurance.

·        Travel required, some overnight/out of town travel may be required for attendance at meetings, training programs, conferences, etc. Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas drivers’ license and required automobile insurance.

·        CLASS and DBMD knowledge preferred, however CLASS and DBMD training will be provided by the Agency.

·        Must maintain current CPR certification including the Heimlich Maneuver; on-line only

certification is not sufficient to meet this requirement.

 

Physical Requirements:

·        Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

·        Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.

·        Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.

 

·           Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with words, hand(s) or arm(s); for example, using the keyboard.

·           Communication skills using the spoken word.

 ·           Ability to see within normal parameters.

·           Ability to hear within normal range.

·           Ability to move about.
