DSSW Dallas is looking for a DBMD Program Director to join our team in Ft. Worth!!

 

Disability Services of the Southwest is seeking a “DBMD Program Director” to help support our growing Ft. Worth, TX branch office.

The Program Directors (equivalent to a Case Manager, not an Executive/Administrator level position) are responsible for the internal  operation of the CLASS waiver program. Experience working with people with disabilities is required!

Position Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for the internal operation of the managed waiver program.

       

 Tasks:

·         Manage the day-to-day activities of the assigned program and review services.

·         Monitor the services provided for assigned client case load.

·         Utilize program resources efficiently and effectively.

·         Enrolls applicants.

·         Assure that all program and licensure standards are met according to DBMD guidelines.

·         Maintain positive relationships and open communication with clients, client families, case managers, vendors, and other concerned     parties.

·         Attend and participate in all agency manager training sessions and other training approved by the Agency and ARD meetings as required.

·         Initial case manager training must be 30 hours or more. The initial orientation training must be provided to a case manager within six months of employment.

·         Address employee and contract staff disciplinary action when necessary.

·         Assist in safeguarding individuals’ rights in the community.

·         Protect client’s rights in resolving complaints.

·         Provides crises intervention as needed.

·         Will perform client care and on-call duties as assigned or as needed.

·         Travel required for client visits and community activities as necessary.

·         Observe confidentiality policies at all times.

·         Comply with federal, state, & company policies, procedures, and regulations.

·         Perform other related duties as assigned.

·         Must be able to read, write and comprehend English; must be able to communicate efficiently in English.

 

Experience and Education:

·         A bachelor’s degree in a health and human services related field and a minimum of two years of experience in the delivery of direct services to individuals with disabilities; or

·         Have an associate’s degree in a health and human services related field and a minimum of four years of experience providing direct services to individuals with disabilities; or

·         Have a high school diploma or certificate recognized by a state as the equivalent of a high school diploma and a minimum of six years of experience providing direct services to individuals with disabilities; and either:

·         Is fluent in the communication methods used by an individual to whom the case manager is assigned (for example American sign language, tactile symbols, communication boards, pictures, and gestures); or

·         Within six months after being assigned to an individual, becomes fluent in the communication methods used by the individual.

·         Must be able to demonstrate competence with computer applications such as MS Word and Excel and have the ability to readily learn agency specific software.

·         Proficiency in the use of database and spreadsheet software.

·         Must have reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license and auto liability insurance.

·         Must not be convicted of a crime, offense or misdemeanor as defined in TAC §558.241(b), relating to Management and not barred from employment by state law, including Nurse Aide Registry and Employee Misconduct Registry.

·         Must have and maintain current CPR certification including the Heimlich Maneuver, First Aid, on-line certification is not sufficient to meet this requirement.

·         Completion of agency’s DBMD training and HHSC Computer Based training.

·         Must be able to type 35 wpm with 80% accuracy and 80% accuracy in Excel.                                                                                                                          

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

·         Ability to travel to client homes for visits/hourly care and to community activities.
