Compliance Specialist
Consumer Directed Services in Texas, Inc. is an affiliate of Disability
Services of the Southwest. CDS in Texas is a payroll processing firm contracted
by HHSC and various insurance companies, to process payroll for individuals
self-directing their care.
Position Summary: The CDS Compliance Specialist is
responsible for auditing employer and employee files for compliance. The
Compliance Specialist will also conduct random reviews of payroll, accounts
payable, and billing to ensure that payroll and billing are done correctly.
Tasks:
· Responsible for performing client, employer, and employee file audits to
ensure they meet State and Federal program rule requirements.
· Assist the Manager with investigating reported potential fraud or
non-compliance complaints and work to create a corrective action plan and/or a
report to the Texas Office of Inspector General.
· Review the scanned files of both employers and employees for completeness.
Using our audit tools, ensure that the files meet State and Federal program rules.
- Responsible for document production requests from various outside entities
and communication with stakeholders/outside entities regarding these requests.
· Random audit checks of accounts payable, payroll, and billing and
assistance with program year-end reconciliations between billing and payroll.
· Document areas of non-compliance to suggest necessary education for other
departments.
· Suggest changes to current protocols and procedures to improve the
accuracy and retrievability of documents.
· Assist in preparing for contract audits.
· Assist with annual audits and compliance checks
- Assist with department training as needed.
· Observe confidentiality policies at all times.
· Comply with federal, state, & company policies, procedures, and
regulations.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Two (2) to Four (4) years of experience in auditing or a related area.
One (1) year of experience in the healthcare field is highly desired.
· Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
· Must demonstrate competence with computer applications such as MS Word and
Excel and readily learn agency-specific software.
· Must be able to type 35 wpm with 80% accuracy and 80% accuracy in Excel.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to work up to a minimum of 40 hours per week.
· Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods.
